I am a trained and registered counsellor, who works with adults and adolescents from my private
practice in Coomera Waters. I offer general counselling instead of specialist or niche counselling as experience has taught me that our struggles in life are often linked to earlier experiences i.e. the end of an intimate partner relationship may trigger feelings of rejection and abandonment that stem from childhood experiences. This generalist approach helps me work more effectively with a broad range of personal, relationship or social problems, including:
Anxiety
Chronic and terminal illnesses
Grief and Loss
Life transitions
Relationship counselling
Self-esteem and self-confidence
Trauma
Work-related issues
“I wasn’t always a counsellor”
I have a legal background and an extensive career in public service, both in the U.K and Australia.
I spent many years observing gaps in mental health and wellbeing support offered to individuals not just in my industry, but beyond. When I realised the impact that a good counsellor could have on an individual’s mental health and general outlook on life, I chose to embark on a career in mental health, determined to help others struggling through difficult moments in their life, and navigate their problems with the support and guidance of a trained professional.
I use integrative therapy, combining different therapeutic tools and approaches to fit the needs of the individual client. My approach is largely person-focused as I believe the client is the expert in their own life, and that counselling merely helps them find the
answers that are already within them.
My work is governed by the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) to ensure it adheres to strict Codes of Conduct and Practice. As such, I am required to undertake Continuing Professional Development to retain my ability to practice safely, ethically and legally, providing my clients with best practice.
