Trauma

Trauma can leave lasting emotional wounds that affect every aspect of life—your relationships, sleep, confidence, and even your sense of safety. Whether your experience was recent or rooted in the past, healing is possible with the right support.

At Clearview Pathway, we provide a safe, confidential space where you can begin to process what has happened and reconnect with a sense of strength and stability.

Trauma Counselling

"The paradox of trauma is that it has both the power to destroy and the power to transform and resurrect." - Peter A.. Levine

What Is Trauma?

Trauma is an emotional response to a distressing or overwhelming experience. It may stem from:

  • Abuse (emotional, physical, sexual)
  • Family violence
  • Accidents or injury
  • Natural disasters
  • Loss or grief
  • Medical trauma
  • Witnessing or experiencing events that leave you feeling powerless or afraid

Trauma looks different for everyone. You might not even label it as “trauma.”  Some people may have flashbacks, nightmares, or anxiety. Others might feel numb, disconnected, or find themselves avoiding certain people or places.  But if you’re dealing with anger, anxiety, mood swings, sleep problems, or feeling numb and disconnected, it could be a sign that something deeper needs attention.

Signs You May Be Carrying Trauma

  • You shut down or lose your temper easily
  • Sleeping too much, not enough, or experiencing bad dreams
  • You feel on edge, jumpy, or find it hard to relax
  • You have lost interest in things you used to enjoy
  • You bottle things up, even with people close to you
  • You feel like no one gets what you have been through

If any of these sound familiar then you are not broken. You are reacting in very human ways to overwhelming stress.

How Trauma Counselling Can Help

Our trauma-informed counselling approach is grounded in compassion, respect, and safety. We tailor support to your unique needs, helping you to:

  • Understand how trauma affects your body and mind
  • Develop coping tools for anxiety, panic, or emotional overwhelm
  • Rebuild trust in yourself and others
  • Work through painful memories in a gentle, manageable way
  • Restore a sense of control, empowerment, and hope

We work at your pace. You will never be rushed or pushed to share more than you are ready for.

Our Approach

We work in a trauma-informed way, which means we prioritise your safety, your pace, and what works for you. Sessions might include:

  • Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Somatic (Body-Based) Therapies
  • Mindfulness and Grounding Techniques
  • Narrative Therapy
  • Inner Child and Attachment-Based Work

Some individuals want to talk, others want tools. You do not have to know what you need—just show up as you are, and we will figure it out together.

You're Not Weak. You're Human

Trauma can make the world feel unsafe, but healing begins when we feel seen, heard, and supported.  Trauma counselling is not about rehashing the past forever. It’s about understanding what’s holding you back now, and finding your way forward.
