Anxiety disorders are the most common group of mental health conditions in Australia affecting 14% of people aged 16-85 (ABS: National Survey of Mental Health and Wellbeing).
At Clearview Pathway, we understand that sometimes anxiety can be so overwhelming that it can be hard to cope with everyday life.
We will undertake a thorough assessment confidentially and empathetically, ensuring that you feel safe to express your emotions. We will work with you to overcome the thoughts that trigger anxiety so that you can regain control of your life.
“Courage is not having the strength to go on: it is going on when you don’t have the strength” – Theodore Roosevelt
Like with any other major life change, the diagnosis of a chronic condition or terminal illness can have a significant impact on the way you see yourself, live life, and relate to others. Both can be a frightening experience and may pose significant challenges not just for you but your family members and friends who will be dealing with their own feelings about your diagnosis.
At Clearview Pathway, we understand that you need time to process and come to terms with your diagnosis. We will provide you with a safe space to work on any concerns related to your diagnosis, including death and dying. We will also help you to process significant emotions, learn how to communicate your wishes and needs to family members and friends, and build a support network around you.
At Clearview Pathway, we recognise that anyone experiencing grief may be very vulnerable.
We engage empathetically, creating a confidential space where you will feel safe to express upsetting and sometimes, intense emotions. We will assist you with developing healthy coping strategies and build on your strengths and resources as we walk beside you on your journey to heal.
Throughout our lifetime, we will experience a number of life transitions, such as starting school or university, getting a job, reaching a significant age, retirement or losing someone close to us. Most transitions are generally positive. However, adjusting to change, even positive change, can be difficult, especially when those changes are thrust upon us when we are not expecting them and we are forced to adjust before we fully understand the situation.
At Clearview Pathway, we will work with you to help you better understand and come to terms with the difficult issues in your life, increase your capacity to cope with the stresses and challenges and move forward in your life confidently, purposefully and peacefully.
At Clearview Pathway, we understand that healthy relationships result in fewer physical, emotional and mental health issues.
Conversely, we understand how relationship issues can impact a person’s self-esteem and their ability to live a happy life.
In a safe and non-judgmental space, we will provide individuals, couples and families with skills to help better manage conflict and re-build happy relationships.
Low self-esteem and self-confidence can make communicating difficult and can interfere with our day-to-day interactions and personal relationships. Negative self-thoughts, focusing on your shortcomings, avoiding situations where you may feel judged by others, social anxiety, shyness and lacking assertiveness are some signs of low self-esteem and self-confidence. Talking to a counsellor can help you improve the way you think about yourself and your abilities, which in turn, impacts the way you engage with others around you.
At Clearview Pathway, we will work with you to help you explore any underlying issues that might be causing your difficulties. Most importantly, we will help you realise your strengths and talents and focus on what you can change in your life to enhance your self-esteem and self-confidence.
Several studies have found that being in nature for even short periods of time can have a positive effect on our mental health.
However, many of us struggle with making time to experience nature. The walk in the park that was planned for this afternoon suddenly becomes less important because you could be doing something else of more ‘value’.
For this reason, a walk planned with another person means there is less chance of cancelling.
We spend about a third of our lives at work.
Many jobs involve some degree of stress and a moderate level of stress can enhance our performance. But when the stress becomes excessive and/or prolonged, it can significantly impact our physical and mental health.
If you, or someone you know, feels that workplace stress is impacting your day-to-day life,
we may be able to help you manage the stress using coping strategies and techniques based on the best available research.
